Our counselling is delivered from a holistic trauma informed approach with the parent at the heart of their support.
Our dedicated and highly skilled team are BACP accredited or registered, with a wide range of skills specific to Birth Trauma Rewind, Flash, Talking Therapy, EMDR, grief and loss and CBT.
Most relevant is, they have lived this too.
Why Counselling Matters
The therapeutic relationship is built on mutual respect, compassion and the want for the therapist to foster a safe and nurturing environment whilst supporting the parent in recognising and obtaining their full potential when identity has felt so blurred.
Similar to peer support, the space is open for our families wider story to be shared, explored and recognised as factors which influence decision making and recovery.
How Support Works
Following the initial assessment, parent(s) are paired with one of our therapists who may feel best suited to the approach most beneficial to the needs of each individual. The recency of loss is carefully considered due to process time needed to safely share and explore the trauma, attempting such delicate and complex exploration too soon can significantly heighten the risk of causing further traumatisation.
Within sessions, time can be shared with creative memory making, using personal items each parent feels comfortable in using. This is in addition to sitting in the quiet, releasing emotions that feel unsafe in the day to day, vocalising the intensity of the fear, guilt, sadness, uncertainty of self, hopes and dreams cruelly taken.
What does support look like
Counselling takes place virtually or in person in a neutral space such as a counselling room to minimise the risk of distress for parents
Emotional Support
Our counselling team is welcoming, inclusive to all, practicing without judgement and grateful to offer the space and time to listen, in a world when time feels so scarce.
Wrap Around Care
Our teams communicate regularly and sensitively within guidelines of consent, this means your peer mentor can provide practical support alongside your therapy sessions. This clears the therapeutic space to make your therapy time focus on what you need it to.
Lived Experience
Our counselling team has varying degrees of lived experience in baby loss, meaning every person you meet through us, understands.
We've been looking after the mental health and well-being of baby loss families since 2022

Being Present in the Community
Our mentors are a visible presence across Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland — in hospitals, neonatal and maternity services, and within family hubs. We are also building connections with funeral homes, community spaces, local cafés, libraries, and other services, so that more families know we are here when they need us.
