Why Forest School Matters
Forest School can be particularly helpful for children who’ve spent time in a neonatal unit. It’s a nurturing way to address developmental differences, as the natural surroundings encourage sensory engagement and hands-on learning.
Your little one can build confidence and social skills as they explore, take managed risks, and connect with the natural world. Plus, these sessions are a great chance for parents to connect with others who’ve had similar experiences.
What support may look like
- Each session focuses on key areas of development – but most of all they are fun!
- Underpinned by occupational therapy interventions and the EYFS framework meaning each activity plays a key role in supporting your little one
- Led by our team who have lived experience of neonatal stays
- Building a village of support from other NICU parents who attend

We know first-hand the worries parents have after leaving the NICU, which is why our development offer is tailored to help them thrive
Working Together with Professionals
We regularly communicate with healthcare teams, GPs, and consultants to ensure joined-up support, while always respecting confidentiality.
There’s no time limit on our support. The NICU journey doesn’t end at discharge, and neither does our care for you. We will hold this space with you, for as long as you need.
