"Leaving home felt terrifying, I was so worried about germs and being re-admitted to hospital, when I found out Leo's could come to me, it made me feel so much more at ease."

All of our neonatal team have experienced the very real fear that can often arise when coming home from the NICU. We know the fear of germs, unwanted touches in the pram, the fear of readmission, but also the feeling of desperately wanting to feel normal. Our home based support model bridges the gap between coming home from the NICU and attending our groups.

Why Home Based Support Matters

Home-based support is a crucial part of the work we do here, it’s there to give you a safe space to offload about what’s happening through peer support, whilst also having activities to support your child’s development. We know that both the parents and the baby or babies need to be held, which is why you’ll find that our peer mentors are also experts in childhood development following a neonatal stay

What support may look like

  • Extensively cleaned kit
  • Staff can wear masks if needed
  • Toys and activities to aid your little one’s development that are suitable for them
  • Led by your baby or child, our team are trained to know what areas of development will need support and they tailor each activity to help your little one bloom

There’s no time limit on our support. The NICU journey doesn’t end at discharge, and neither does our care for you. We will hold this space with you, for as long as you need.
