"During this group my daughter did 2 things she has never done before... and has continued to do these skills throughout the week, ven impressing all the people working with her at portage!"
Leo’s Little Learners is our collection of inclusive, child-led development groups, created especially for families who have experienced time in neonatal care.
We don’t have any upcoming sessions scheduled right now, but we’d love for you to explore our other groups here:
Why Leo’s Little Learners Matters
We know that every child is wonderfully unique, with their own strengths, challenges, and ways of learning. That’s why our sessions are designed to adapt around your child – meeting them where they are, and supporting their growth at a pace that feels right for them. Our groups focus on playful learning and gentle encouragement, helping little ones build important skills.
But Leo’s Little Learners is about more than milestones. It’s about creating a safe, nurturing space where families can relax, connect with others who truly understand, and celebrate every achievement – no matter how small.
Together, we’ll explore activities that spark joy, encourage learning, and help your child flourish in their own unique way.
What support may look like
- Supporting fine & gross motor skills – supporting movement, strength, and coordination
- Supporting language and communication – building confidence with words, sounds, and expression & supporting with makaton when needed
- Supporting problem-solving and early maths – encouraging curiosity, creativity, and new ways of thinking
- Allowing you to be a parent and play with your little one while we support you throughout sessions
How we support
We meet you where you are – over the phone, virtually, or in person. However you feel most comfortable, that’s how we’ll connect.
Emotional Support
A place of safety and no judgement from people who have been in the NICU too
Practical Support & Advocacy
We can liaise with housing, employment, and education services, bridging gaps when extra support is needed.
Working Together with Professionals
We regularly communicate with healthcare teams, GPs, and consultants to ensure joined-up support, while always respecting confidentiality.
There’s no time limit on our support. The NICU journey doesn’t end at discharge, and neither does our care for you. We will hold this space with you, for as long as you need.

Being Present in the Community
